Impact Startup of the Week: Bright Day Graphene

This week’s startup has developed a sustainable way to make graphene that is optimised for energy storage.

Described as a ‘super-material for the future,’ graphene has many useful properties. It is a 2D substance that is transparent, strong, flexible and has great thermal and electrical conductivity. However, it is extremely difficult to produce high quality graphene in large volumes – a large issue in a growing market. Impact startup of the week, Bright Day Graphene, aims to solve this problem.

Bright Day Graphene has developed a ‘green’ graphene that comes from a sustainable product. It is created from a residue product that the forestry industry is currently burned as waste.

“By using it we enable a better use of natural resources and contribute to a more sustainable industry,” says Malin Alpsten, CEO.

This is directly contributing to two of the Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); 9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure) and 12 (Responsible Consumption & Production).
