Impact Startup of the Week: Gleechi

This week’s startup is fighting inequality through the development of virtual reality (VR) training software for companies.

More than 70 percent of companies have cited capability gaps as one of their top five challenges. At the same time, there is high unemployment, with many people lacking the resources needed to retrain.

STING alumni, Gleechi aims to address both issues by providing a software platform that allows companies to easily create and maintain VR training.

According to CEO, Jakob Way, VR training has many positives for both companies and people looking for work. It enables people to ‘learn by doing’ in a safe and efficient way. It also helps companies to reduce the cost and time of training and lessens the risk of injury.

“This technology can enable people to learn jobs and get jobs that they would not have been able to get before,” said Jakob Way.

By providing training to those with disabilities and language difficulties, Gleechi is directly contributing to SDGs eight (decent work and economic growth) and ten (reduce inequality).
