In this second edition of the successful Sweden-Brazil Startup Matchday on May 26, Swedish startups have the unique chance to meet world-leading corporations established in the South American country including:

ArcelorMittal: One of the largest steel manufacturers in the world. With customers in 160 countries they aim to develop a smarter, more sustainable steel for the future.  

Ambev: A brewing company responsible for bottling PepsiCo in South America. They are Brazil’s largest company by market capitalization and the third largest in the southern hemisphere. 

BRF: One of the world’s largest food companies with 30 brands and international reach. 

LelloLab: An Innovation Lab dedicated to research and prototyping of communal strategies and new business models for private dwelling communities in São Paulo. They focus on the safety and security of their residents. 

Natura: A cosmetics and personal care company that has been carbon neutral since 2007. With a large focus on sustainability, they are part of the Natura group which also includes Aesop, The Body Shop and Avon.

Oxiteno: A leading multinational specialising in the production of surfactants and specialty chemicals in the Americas. It provides solutions for a range of sectors including Crop Solutions, Home Care and I&I, Personal Care, Coatings, Oil & Gas, Functional Fluids, Nutrition and Health.

PreventSenior: PreventSenior is a network of hospitals and emergency care centres throughout the Sao Paulo area.  

Sabesp: Provides water and sanitation to over 26 million people in the San Paulo region. The state owned company is the largest water and sanitation company in Latin America.  

Suzano: Produces pulp and paper products and is the largest producer of eucalyptus pulp in the world.

WEG: Works with electrical engineering, power and automation technology. With a portfolio of over 1200 product lines and branches in 36 countries, WEG aims to be the benchmark company for electrical machines.

These companies are looking for innovative solutions within smart cities, sustainability, sustainable mobility, water, renewables, health tech, bioeconomy, circular economy, sustainable forest management and biorefinery technologies.

A selected group of participating startups will receive funding from the Swedish government to visit Brazil in November during the Sweden Brazil Startup Week (TBC due to the pandemic).

The Sweden-Brazil Startup Matchday is a joint initiative between Ignite Sweden and CISB (Swedish-Brazilian Research and Innovation Centre), funded by Vinnova, and with the support of the Embassy of Sweden in Brazil, RISE – Research Institutes of Sweden, and SISP – Swedish Incubators & Science Parks. The matchday is part of the Sweden-Brazil Innovation Initiative & the International Innovation Initiative, a platform to strengthen Sweden’s strategic promotion of innovation.
