Mimbly wins Kommersialiseringspriset

Mimbly is the winner of Kommersialiseringspriset, a new prize awarded by the Swedish Energy Agency (Energimyndigheten), InnoEnergy and Ignite Sweden as part of the Innovationrace pitch contest. The award consists of a commercial pilot project between a startup and a large company -in this case, Coor Service Management-.

Three people with big check / contact

The award aims to emphasize the importance of commercial collaboration between established companies and young innovative startups.

– This is an attractive prize due to many startups and scaleups have a hard time getting into collaborations with corporates. We want to provide the conditions so that startups with energy innovations can meet large companies. To support startups is not enough: we at Energymyndigheten work hard so that their innovative solutions come to market with the goal to create impact on the energy system and contribute to a more sustainable future. This prize contributes to that, says Sasan Shaba, Portfolio Manager and Business Developer at Energymyndigheten.

– Our goal with this initiative is to help startups with a positive environmental impact reach their potential market faster, adds Stina Lantz, Program Manager of Ignite Sweden.

Ignite Sweden was in charge of the selection of the winning pilot project. The program presented 20 startups to a large number of corporates, in order to find potential business cases that could lead to commercial projects.

– This prize means a great deal for us as a startup. This is one of the most important “wins” so far because it can lead to a potentially huge customer. Since this prize is a project, we as a young, small company are going to learn so much from one of the biggest actors within the facility management sector, comments Isabella Palmgren, CEO and founder of Mimbly.

As part of the commercial project, Coor purchases the first working version of their innovative solution Mimbox, an add-on system for washing machines that recycles 90% of the water, lowers energy consumption and prevents the spread of synthetic microfibres into the water mainstream.

Coor Service Management met Mimbly last year at one of the matchmaking events organized by Ignite Sweden to connect startups and corporates.

– We really like what Mimbly is trying to achieve with its solutions. Its product fits well with what we do as a company and with our sustainability ambition. Our cleaning operations wash a lot of materials daily. If we can filter and recycle the water, instead of using fresh water in our laundry machines, we will improve our operations from an environmental perspective, explains Mattias Wahlgren, Innovation Manager at Coor Service Management.

The Kommersialiseringspriset will be awarded on a yearly basis to startups with innovative solutions that have a positive impact on the environment.
